The University of North Dakota’s history dates back to 1883 – six years before the establishment of the state of North Dakota. Founded with a strong liberal arts foundation, UND has grown into a prominent scientific research university and boasts the only schools of medicine and law in the state. The flagship of the North Dakota University system, the space-grant university offers more than 220 fields of study across 10 academic divisions. Its Division of Continuing Education provides students with convenient and flexible online learning options. Students can choose from self-paced, independent study courses and enroll anytime or follow the traditional semester schedule. Admissions and Transfer Info

The University of North Dakota’s admission prerequisites and application requirements vary by program.

Undergraduate applicants must submit official high school transcripts and college transcripts, if applicable, as well as ACT or SAT scores.

Transfer students who have completed at least 24 transferable college credits must have earned a minimum of 2.0 cumulative GPA and be in good standing at their previous college. They also must submit official college transcripts.

Transfer students who hold fewer than 24 college credits must meet those requirements as well as the requirements for freshmen applicants.

SAT/ACT scores are not required for applicants older than 25.

International students applying for undergraduate admissions must submit official records from each school attended, immunization records, a statement of financial responsibility, and proof of English proficiency.

International students applying for graduate admissions must submit two sets of official transcripts, an official copy of their diploma or degree certificate, three letters of reference, a statement of purpose, TOEFL test scores, a photocopy of their passport, and a Certification of Finances form or letter of sponsorship.

Graduate applicants must hold a four-year bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university, a minimum of 20 semester credits of appropriate undergraduate coursework in their chosen field, and a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 for all undergraduate coursework. They also must complete graduate admissions test requirements and demonstrate English language proficiency.
