To ensure maximum scheduling flexibility for busy students, SUNY Poly provides an extensive catalog of asynchronous and synchronous online and hybrid courses, including a bachelor's in health information management.
The fully online health information management program utilizes a combination of asynchronous and synchronous components. Core coursework includes study of medical terminology, coding and classification, introduction to epidemiology, and health informatics concepts.
Select courses require that student groups meet virtually throughout the semester, but all online class meetings are recorded and available for later playback by students unable to participate in real time. All students must also satisfy three professional practice experience requirements prior to graduation.
SUNY Poly provides separate program pathways for first-time college students and transfer students who hold associate degrees in health information technology. Applications are evaluated individually based on academic performance, test scores (if applicable), and other relevant supplemental information. First-year applicants and transfer students with fewer than 30 credits must provide SAT or ACT scores.
The State University of New York Polytechnic Institute is regionally accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). The online health information management program holds programmatic accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM).

Considers the following of the online classes:
