Seminole State College of Florida began offering classes in 1966 out of portable classrooms located in a former citrus grove. Today the school serves nearly 18,000 students and offers a variety of associate, bachelor’s, and certificate programs. Seminole State College of Florida offers courses through four academic schools: the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business, Health, and Public Service, the School of Engineering, Design, and Construction, and the School of Academic Foundations.

Seminole State College of Florida offers several online bachelor’s and associate degree programs, as well as several certificate programs. The school was founded in 1904 as the Daytona Literary and Industrial Training School for Negro Girls. Founder Mary McLeod Bethune, a black woman passionate about education, founded the school with $1.50 and five students. Today the school serves nearly 4,000 students and offers in–person and online bachelor’s and master’s degrees through nine colleges and schools: Business and Entrepreneurship, Education, Health Sciences, Hospitality Management, Liberal Arts, Nursing, Performing Arts and Communication, Religion, and Science, Engineering, and Mathematics.
