Assessing STEM Aptitude Quickly
Imagine you had to quickly assess someone's talent for math and related technical subjects. You might monitor this person over a few days. Depending on how well this person performed in that time, you might draw conclusions about this person's aptitude for STEM (= Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
But what if you could assess this person's aptitude for STEM more quickly? What if you could do it in only one hour? What if you could do it in only a few minutes? If you can legitimately assess someone's ability or skill in less time rather than more, then by all means go for less. Less really is more in these circumstances.
Here at TheBestSchools.org, we believe in avoiding useless and superfluous activity. If someone has demonstrated proficiency in a given field, then that's all the credential he or she needs. Similarly, if the point is not to demonstrate proficiency or achievement but rather aptitude, suggesting that a course of training is likely to result in proficiency or achievement, then let's assess aptitude quickly and not beat around the bush.
Which brings us to the point of TheBestSchools.org's STEM Intelligence Test. We have developed a ten-question test that, in our view, quickly and reliably assesses aptitude for STEM. We regard this as important at TheBestSchools.org because STEM fields offer signficant opportunities for educational and career advancement:
Only ten questions and twenty minutes in length, this test quickly identifies people with the right stuff to do science, technology, engineering, or mathematics. Give the test a try and see how you do. If you get at least six correct, consider yourself in the top five percent of STEM students (not general population, but STEM students!).
Taking the STEM Intelligent Test
What's your STEM aptitude? This test assesses your aptitude for solving the types of problems that arise in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (= STEM). You have 20 minutes to complete this test. Where an answer requires more than one word or number, separate them by single spaces. Express fractions in lowest terms using "/" as separator. This test requires no specialized or technical knowledge. Once you answer a question and hit "next," you cannot go back. All questions and answers will be reviewed at the end. Have pencil and paper at hand. READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS AGAIN. Good luck!
