WVU also includes Potomac State College of West Virginia University in Keyser, University Institute of Technology in Montgomery, and a second clinical campus for the university’s medical and dental schools at Charleston Area Medical Center in Charleston.
The university provides over 190 bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral, and professional degree programs in an array of subjects via its 15 colleges. The main campus has over 29,600 students. Students have opportunities to help people via the Center for Civic Engagement.
West Virginia University is designated a Research University by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. It is affiliated with the Blanchette Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, dedicated to studying Alzheimer’s and other diseases which affect the brain.
WVU, a leader in biometric technology research, is the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s lead academic partner in biometrics research. Forensics and Investigative Science is a nationally recognized program at West Virginia University.
