Overview

Western Kentucky University (WKU), public university founded in 1906, has a long history of distance education. It began its first distance program in 1919 with course items delivered by mail and launched its online programs in 1998. WKU helps students become engaged, socially responsible and productive citizens with nearly 100 undergraduate degree programs as well as a range of master's and doctoral programs. WKU's online students have access to the same nationally recognized support and instruction as their on-campus counterparts. WKU's learning- and student-centered programs prepare students to become lifelong learners. WKU offers two types of online programs – web programs, which are semester based and have 10 start dates each year, and On Demand courses, which are self-paced and allow students to start any day of the year.
