University of Illinois–Springfield's admission prerequisites and application requirements vary by program.

UIS offers rolling admissions for freshman applicants.

During the admissions process, UIS considers a student's grade point average, class rank and ACT or SAT test scores.

Students also must submit a personal and academic statement.

Graduate applicants must submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities they've attended.

Depending on the program, students must have earned a baccalaureate degree with a minimum 2.5 GPA.

The university also offers an alternative admissions program, which is open to people who have at least 12 to 15 years of work experience after high school. UIS considers life and work experience as an equivalent to a portion of the traditional freshman and sophomore years of study.
