Overview

Florida State University (FSU), a public, sea-grant and space-grant university founded in 1851, offers more than 360 programs of study through 16 colleges and more than 110 facilities, centers, labs and institutes. A member of the State University System of Florida, FSU also is home to the state’s only National Laboratory — the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. The university also boasts a host of nationally ranked programs, including those in law, engineering, business, medicine and social work, among others. The university’s world-renowned faculty provide students with a student-centered education through small class sizes and mentoring opportunities.

FSU’s Office of Distance Learning offers a number of online advanced-standing undergraduate programs, several graduate degree programs as well as coursework toward a professional certification or specialization. Most of FSU’s online courses feature an asynchronous format, allowing students to complete coursework on their schedule; however, some do require synchronous participation or face-to-face elements.
