According to CBS-St. Louis, the Land of Lincoln is low on stand-in educators. Public schools throughout the state struggle daily to dispatch substitute teachers to as many as 600 classrooms.

According to a review by the Illinois Association of Regional Superintendents of Schools, "teachers call in more than 16,500 absences each week. School officials have trouble finding replacements for nearly 20 percent of them."
